Each session features an engaging craft talk, actionable writing strategies, and a live Q&A with the author. In this two-part intensive lecture, award-winning fiction writer Marcela Fuentes will share how to pick an excellent shape for your story, create a strong opening, and evoke striking images. She’ll also provide craft tools and ideas you can practice on your own following the lecture.

Marcela Fuentes is an award-winning fiction writer and essayist. Her debut novel Malas won the Texas Institute of Letters First Fiction Prize and the National Cowboy Museum & Western Heritage Award for Outstanding Western Novel. The book was longlisted for the Center For Fiction’s First Novel Prize and was featured in The New York TimesWashington Post, PeopleElle Magazine, and Texas Monthly. Malas was Good Morning America Book Club’s pick for June 2024. Marcela is an associate professor at TCU in Fort Worth. She was born and raised in Del Rio, Texas.
